Core shooting machines are specialised automated equipment used in the foundry industry for manufacturing sand cores. Their core function involves injecting sand cores of specific formulations into moulds through a defined process, rapidly solidifying them to form sand cores used for casting internal cavities, holes, or complex structures. These machines are critical equipment in foundry production, ensuring casting precision and enhancing efficiency.

By Structure:Vertical Parting and horizontal parting Core Shooting Machine

Vertical Parting Core Shooting Machine: Features vertical parting for mould opening and closing. Capable of mounting two distinct mould sets simultaneously, with a central fixed frame allowing double-sided installation of fixed moulds. Moulds open left and right, making it suitable for producing sand cores of various shapes, particularly those with complex geometries requiring multi-faceted forming.

 

Horizontal Parting Core Shooting Machine: Typically featuring a larger sand injection area, this machine produces larger cores with convenient core insertion. It is frequently employed in manufacturing cores for large castings.

  

By Process: Hot Box Core Shooting Machine and Cold Box Core Shooting Machine

 

Hot-box core shooters: These machines rapidly inject core sand mixtures—bonded with liquid or solid thermosetting resins—into heated moulds using compressed air. The sand core preheats within the mould before rapidly hardening to a specified thickness (approximately 5–10mm). The finished core is then extracted, yielding a high-quality product with a smooth surface and precise dimensions.

 

Cold-Box Core Shooter: The operating principle involves propelling core sand at high velocity into the mould cavity of the core box using compressed air. A curing agent (triethylamine or carbon dioxide) is then introduced to rapidly solidify the sand mixture, ultimately producing the casting core. The entire process can be simplified into three key steps: 'sand injection and filling - gas curing - demoulding and core extraction.
